“Sport aerobics is the ability to perform complex and highly intense movement patterns – which have its origins in traditional fitness aerobics – without stopping with a high degree of perfectly executed difficulty parts to accompany the music. An exercise / freestyle must combine creativity with the perfect integration of all movements, music and expressiveness “. (World Gymnastics FIG) The first aerobics competitions were held in the 198oer years. Sportaerobic has been represented in Austria since 1999 by the Austrian Gymnastics Association. In the year 2000 an Austrian Championship was held for the first time and since 2003 Austria hosts the annual “Austrian Aerobic Open”.Sportaerobic is currently represented in four states: Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Tyrol. In total, just under a dozen clubs actively participate in the competition and the most important centers of excellence are in Linz, Stockerau and Wörgl. Other clubs are already under construction and other federal states are banking on the new trend.
